Clabe Hangan 1934-2008
On Saturday August 9th we lost a voice that was filled with love and hope, strength and laughter.
Singer-guitarist Clabe Hangan has been described as “possibly the best unheralded bules singer of this generation.” Influenced by Lead Belly and Big Bill Broonzy, he spent the early 1960s absorbing everything he could from that generation. Clabe Hangan was an accomplished musician, vocalist, instrumentalist, composer, and music historian, eventually becoming a cultural music educator as well as a solo performer and recording artist.
